About us

Maury County/ Columbia Animal Services Center provides comprehensive animal care and control services for residents of Maury County. The Animal Services Center facility houses the Adoption Center, Intake Center, shelter for stray and unwanted pets, the Animal Control Division, and a veterinary clinic for shelter animals.

Adoption Center

The Adoption Center provides pet adoption services for the public. All adoptable pets are spayed/ neutered and have received all applicable vaccinations, flea/tick preventative, deworming, and have been tested for heartworms (dogs) or FIV/FELV (cats). If you are interested in adoption, please visit the shelter or call the Adoption Center at 931-375-1402.

Adoption fees are as follows:

Dogs $50.00

Cats $25.00

Fees are subject to change during special adoption events.

Intake Center

The Intake Center accepts stray and owner surrendered pets from Maury County residents Monday thru Friday between 1pm and 5pm. An appointment is required when surrendering an owned pet. If you need to schedule an owner surrender appointment, please call 931-375-1401. If you have a stray and need to surrender it outside of our intake hours, please contact the Animal Control Division at 931-375-1403. Please note, we do not accept or pick up strays after hours or on holidays, except in emergency situations.

Animal Control Officers make every effort to return lost pets to their owners before bringing them the the shelter. However, if your pet is missing, or your dog/ cat has been impounded, please contact the Intake Center to find out if your pet is at the shelter or to make arrangements to retrieve your pet.

Remember, it is always best to keep your pet's rabies tag and some form of identification on their collar or harness. A microchip is also a great way to help us help your pet find his/ her way home! Animal Control Officers carry microchip scanners just like the ones at veterinary clinics and shelters, so they can scan and return your pet quickly if the pet is micro-chipped!

Impound fees are as follows:

1st $20.00

2nd $50.00

3rd $100.00

Animal Control

The Animal Control Division provides animal control services and humane enforcement for Maury County. Animal Control Officers are professionally trained and equipped to handle almost any companion animal related problem. ACOs are permitted to capture and handle wildlife under limited circumstances, but they do not provide routine pest control or advice concerning nuisance wildlife abatement. The Maury County Sheriff's Department handles all livestock calls. All MCAS ACOs are also Disaster Animal Response Team members. Please call 931-375-1403 if you need to reach the Animal Control Division. click Here for Animal Control page
